MARION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—United Way of North Central Ohio (UWNCO) is entering the second half of its fiscal year with a new face in leadership and strong fundraising momentum.
Amber Wertman, Executive Director of UWNCO, announced the appointment of Heath Ring as the new Development Director for Marion County. Ring, a Marion native and former executive director of a local homeless shelter, will lead community investment campaigns across the region.
“I fell in love with this work because I enjoy problem-solving the issues facing our community,” Ring said during a recent interview on Community Spotlight. His role involves connecting local businesses and individuals with the United Way’s “Bold Impact” areas, which include housing, transportation, childcare, and mental health.
The announcement comes as the organization reported it has reached 56% of its total fundraising goal for the 2025-26 campaign across its five-county service area, which includes Crawford, Marion, Morrow, Seneca, and Wyandot counties.
Wertman also highlighted several upcoming community events designed to keep that momentum going through the June 30 campaign deadline:
- Spring Purse Bingo: Returning to Upper Sandusky on Friday, May 1. Tickets go on sale March 18.
- United Day of Service: Partnering with Marion City Schools in May to focus on neighborhood revitalization and elderly assistance.
- Raise A Glass Events: A series of county-specific donor appreciation open houses scheduled for June.
The organization recently moved into a new “Impact Center” in downtown Marion. Wertman noted that the new location will eventually offer boardroom space for nonprofit partners, further solidifying the United Way’s role as a regional hub for philanthropy.
