BUCYRUS — More than 300 men and women made their way into the Crawford County Fairgrounds Youth Building on Saturday evening to play bingo for a good cause.
The Sixth Annual United Way Designer Purse Bingo event kicked off the latest fundraising campaign for the United Way of Crawford County.
“This event kicks off our new campaign cycle each year and is always well-attended,” United Way Communications Director Jillian Tuttle said.
Nadia Oehler, resource manager of the United Way of Crawford County, said the event and campaign provide funding for various local programs and agencies throughout the community.
“One of the programs we support is the Backpack program at Galion and Bucyrus city schools and the Music and Movement program at the Bucyrus Public Library,” Oehler said.
She said the Bold Goals for the coming year early childhood development and mentorship, healthy, vibrant neighborhoods and workforce development and leadership opportunities through 17 partnerships throughout the county.
Emcees and bingo callers for the event were Claudia Spiegel and Eric Faulds of the North Central Ohio Media Group including Iconic Rock Q92.7 WQEL, Country Legends 1540/107.5 WBCO and Crawford County Now.
Karissa Rinehart and Christine Williams are employed by a partner of the United Way.
“This is our first time coming to this event. It is a good way to help the community,” Williams said.
Rinehart said the event was a fun way to help United Way kick off the latest campaign cycle.
