BUCYRUS — United Bank is taking on a new name and a new look – Park National Bank.

Although the change is already in effect, new signs probably won’t be installed company-wide until this spring, according to United Bank president Don Stone. Until then, he said, it will be business as usual for the longtime financial institution and its customers.

“It makes it kind of easy that there’s not going to be a lot of changes, other than the signs,” said Stone, who has led the 401 S. Sandusky Ave. branch since 2001. “It’s kind of a big event but I think it was done in such a way that we have the thought and consideration of our customers in mind.”

The change has been about 18 months in the making, Stone said. Coming together under the Park National name means all 12 community banking divisions will now share a unified name, he said, as well as the ability to deliver more banking options.

With 120 branches across Ohio, Kentucky and the Carolinas, Park National has for more than a century made changes to better serve its customers, Stone said.

“We’re like any other business. What our customers want, need and demand is what we try to deliver.”

The leadership in both Bucyrus and Galion will remain intact, according to Stone. He said the rebranding will only affect the appearance of each branch office, which will provide the same leadership and community involvement Crawford County residents have come to expect.

“You hope that when you go through a process that it’s methodical and so far, it’s gone as well as we hoped,” said Stone, a 24-year veteran of the financial institution. “I think the whole idea is the recognition that our customers are certainly doing banking different than when I started.”

In the coming months, Park National will launch a new website and mobile app, plus each location will be updated with the green Park National logo. Account numbers, however, will not change and neither will usernames and passwords for online banking.

In addition to United Bank, the Park National family includes Carolina Alliance Bank, Century National Bank, Fairfield National Bank, First-Knox National Bank, NewDominion Bank, Richland Bank, Second National Bank, Security National Bank and Unity National Bank.
