For the second straight night of the Crawford County Fair racing took over the infield of the grandstands as KOI provided its brand of drag racing.

fair drag racing 4Racing everything from ATV’s, cars, trucks, dirt bikes, and snow mobiles, KOI Racing had a first for the organization as semi-trucks competed in the 200-feet drag race.

After time trials had completed promoter Lewis Cleaver spoke with all the drivers explaining rules, and safety for the KOI Racing event. Once the briefing of the drivers was completed the races were underway. Racing a head-to-head, double elimination format, drivers had to be defeated twice before being eliminated from their class.

fair drag racing 1First time KOI racer Jeremy Thorton won first in the 200 Class ATVs. Thorton gave his impression on the event.

“I thought it was a pretty great experience it was definitely fun, and I’ll do it again,” Thorton said.

James Fichtner took first place in the two-wheel drive vehicle division with his 2008 Ford Mustang. Fichnter explained that the win wasn’t expected.

“It was fun, I had a great time for sure,” Fichtner said. “I didn’t expect to win so it is pretty cool.”
