The Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities is hosting a unified basketball exhibition game Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Bucyrus High School.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. To raise awareness and help people with disabilities realize their full potential and value to the community, the basketball game is just one of many activities planned for March.

Students from local high schools will be divided and placed on a team that includes athletes from the Special Olympics basketball team. The school athletes will be assigned a simulated disability which they will need to accommodate during the exhibition game.

A meet, greet and orientation is scheduled prior to the game. Athletes also will be asked to share some highlights of their experience.

The community is invited and encouraged to attend the game and cheer on the athletes.

Admission is free to the event, however, donations will be taken for Community Action in the form of canned goods, boxed food, cereal and drinks. Other items needed are paper products, laundry detergent and toiletries.

Any monetary donations as well as concessions being offered will benefit local Special Olympics.
