The good news in the latest unemployment numbers that went out this week is that Crawford County’s jobless rate improved from September to October. The bad news is that the county still lags behind its neighbors and hasn’t gotten back to where it was at this time in 2015.
The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services estimates there are 1,000 people in the county who qualified to be counted as unemployed making the unemployment rate here 5.5 percent for the month of October. That is down from 5.8 percent for September.
The unemployment rate for October of 2015 in Crawford County was 5.2 percent.
Wyandot County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the area at 3.4 percent. Huron and Richland counties have the closest numbers to Crawford County. Both are at 5.2 percent.
All other bordering counties are below 5 percent.
Statewide the unemployment rate is 4.6 percent while the national number is 4.7 percent.
