BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio Department of Transportation announced new traffic impacts for the ongoing U.S. Route 30 bridge replacement project west of State Route 98, involving several upcoming ramp closures and long-term lane restrictions.
The project, which involves replacing the east and west bridges over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, has already reduced U.S. 30 to one 11-foot lane in each direction. ODOT officials stated that crews are currently continuing median crossover and shoulder reconstruction.
New impacts begin Thursday, April 9, when the State Route 98 entrance ramp to U.S. 30 westbound will close for two days for underdrain work. Motorists will be detoured south on SR 98 to SR 4 north to access U.S. 30 westbound. The ramp is expected to reopen Friday, April 10.
Also starting Thursday, April 9, the SR 4 entrance ramp to U.S. 30 eastbound will close for shoulder reconstruction. Drivers should detour south on SR 4 to SR 98 north to reach U.S. 30 eastbound. This closure is scheduled to last through Saturday, April 18.
Further disruptions are scheduled for later this month and into May:
- SR 98 Westbound Ramp: A second closure is planned for Thursday, April 16, lasting four days for additional shoulder work.
- SR 4 Eastbound Ramp: A long-term closure will begin Monday, May 11, lasting 188 days for the reconstruction of the eastbound side of the U.S. 30 bridge. This closure is expected to remain in place until mid-November.
The entire bridge replacement project carries an estimated completion date of August 2027. All work is weather permitting. For real-time updates, commuters are encouraged to visit OHGO.com or follow ODOT District 3 on social media.
