Deputies from two counties and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol got a workout on Labor Day when they chased two wanted men from Nevada to Bucyrus.
Eric Simmons of Nevada and Charles Collier of Carey were both wanted on active warrants when they were spotted by Wyandot County Sheriff’s Deputy Dennis Wilson. Simmons was driving the vehicle and sped away when Wilson tried to make a traffic stop.
Wilson pursued Simmons down Nevada-Wynford Road where deputies from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol joined the pursuit.
Collier vacated the car Simmons was driving as it approved the intersection with Lincoln Highway and was arrested there. Simmons continued on into Bucyrus on Tiffin Street at a high rate of speed and eventually crashed the vehicle in an alley off of South Walnut Street. Simmons’ vehicle went through a fence, hit a deck and children’s play equipment at 845 S. Walnut Street.
Simmons fled on foot, but was located at A-1 Printing.
Both Simmons and Collier were taken into custody by Wyandot County Sheriff’s deputies and returned to Wyandot County where they are being held at the county jail.
