CRAWFORD COUNTY—On September 15, 2023, at 7:12 AM Crawford County Sheriff Deputies, in conjunction with Whetstone Township Fire Department and Life First EMS, responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Monnett New Winchester Rd and State Route 100.
Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation reveal that Christy Smith, driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue, was traveling south on State Route 100. Meanwhile, Carrie Cochran was heading westbound on Monnett New Winchester Rd, driving a 2009 Chevrolet HHR. It was at the intersection of Monnett New Winchester Rd and State Route 100 that the unfortunate incident unfolded.
According to authorities, Carrie Cochran failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.
Cochran, who sustained injuries in the accident, was transported from the scene by Med Flight for immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, Smith was transported by ambulance to receive necessary medical care.
