BUCYRUS—Brooke Morgan, 33, of Bucyrus, appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of her community control and also pleaded guilty to new drug possession charges. Morgan was first placed on community control in May of 2020 after she pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

According to probation officer Chris Heydinger, Morgan’s long list of violations included possession of drugs resulting in new felony charges, possession of drug abuse instruments and paraphernalia, child endangerment, contact with an inmate at the Crawford County Jail, and testing positive for fentanyl and oxycodone and admitted use of the drugs. Heydinger told the court that in April, she tested positive for alcohol and admitted drinking vodka.

Morgan also pleaded guilty to two new drug possession charges. She was charged with a new count of possession of cocaine, originally charged as a fourth-degree felony but amended to a fifth-degree felony, and possession of fentanyl also a fifth-degree felony and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold sentenced Morgan to six months in prison on the community control violation and eight months on each of the new drug charges for a total of 22 months in prison.

She will forfeit all drug-related property, including electronics and cell phones. She will receive all jail time credit.

Dawn Schultz, 38, of Galion, pleaded guilty to violating the terms and conditions of her community control after she was charged with new felonies and also tested positive for amphetamines and marijuana.

In April, Schultz was placed on five years of control after she pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

In a new grand jury indictment, Schultz was charged with one count of trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison, one count of possession of drugs, and one count of permitting drug abuse each fifth-degree felonies and each punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

In an agreed plea negotiation, Judge Leuthold sentenced Schultz to six months in prison on each count for a total of 24 months in perusing.

Leuthold told Schultz she would receive jail time credit, and he would not oppose transitional control if the prison requested it.

In other court news, Kelly Calmes, 41, of Mansfield, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony punishable with up to 12 months in prison.

In an agreed plea negotiation, Judge Leuthold sentenced Calmes to five years on community control.

She was ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment and any follow-up treatment.
