CRESTLINE — Republican Linda Horning Pitt and Independent candidate John Jones will vie for the position of Crestline mayor in Tuesday’s General Election.
Pitt said this is her first time running for a political position in Ohio, but she worked on the Republican Committee during the years she spent residing in Tennessee.
“I grew up in Crestline and have been back for three years,” Pitt said. “My family is here and I love my town.”
She said she is great at networking to get things accomplished and sees the great potential in Crestline and its residents.
“Crestline is on the right track with many exciting things happening. I want to do what I can to foster that kind of positive growth and change to make Crestline better than ever,” she said.
She said she always treats her opponents with respect, which includes her opponent in the race for mayor, John Jones.
“John and I have similar views and he is a good guy,” Pitt said.
Jones said he also sees the potential in Crestline.
“I have been on the Crestline Board of Zoning Appeals for over seven years and know that the city needs someone to show up and help the great teams that are already hard at work in Crestline to achieve the great things that our community if capable of,” Jones said.
Jones has worked as an electromechanical engineer for most of his life and even before his degrees, and certifications, has developed a real talent for problem-solving in creative ways.
“I am not afraid of difficult choices or situations,” Jones said. “From building cars and buildings, to my everyday profession which requires me to look at problems analytically and create not only solutions but also the corrective measures to prevent the problems from occurring in the future, I feel that my ability to be logical in decision making and problem solving can be a great asset with respect to the position of Mayor. I am a firm believer in the constitution and a strong advocate for the freedom that it stands for.”
The goals of both Pitt and Jones for the village are very similar as they both want to re-create their beautiful city beyond even its former glory years.
“Through building community, teamwork, catering to entrepreneurs and businesses and fortifying our infrastructure and innovating in new ways, this town can grow,” Jones said.
Pitt said she believes in the resilience and determination of the people of Crestline.
“We are resilient and can work through anything and will to propel this town forward in a positive way,” she said.
