`Tis the season for giving and the Community Foundation for Crawford County is pairing its Match Day with #GivingTuesday.

#GivingTuesday is a social media event used to reach people and encourage them to donate to their favorite charities. Match Day is a Community Foundation event in which the foundation’s board has agreed to match every donation to its endowments up to a combined total of $30,000.

The Community foundation is encouraging people to “take 10 to send 10” – take 10 minutes to send 10 solicitation messages to those they know through texts/Facebook/email encouraging them to take part in Match Day.

Last year the match was $20,000 from the foundation and with more than $38,000 raised; it was the first year in which donations surpassed the match pledge. Donations will be accepted at the foundation office in Bucyrus or firehouses at, Bucyrus, Crestline, Galion, and New Washington.

Endowments for which matches qualify include education foundations at Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Crestline, Galion, and Wynford as well as United Way, Crawford County Humane Society, Crawford Antique Farm Machinery, Bucyrus Historical Society, Crawford County Council on Aging, Friends of the Crawford Park District, Harvey One-Room Schoolhouse, Bucyrus Little League and Crestline Historical Society. Also included are Loren’s Cancer Care Fund, Community Concert Association, Bucyrus Preservation Society, Friendship Bridge Fund, and the Bucyrus Public Library.

All checks must be dated Dec. 2 to qualify for matches.
