BUCYRUS — Emergency crews responded to a report of a truck striking a residence and knocking down utility poles Thursday morning.
After arriving on scene in the 200 block of Highland Avenue, crews discovered there was no damage to any residences in the area.
According to Bucyrus Police officer Curt Bursby, a man was driving a truck owned by Sims Brothers Recycling southbound on Highland Avenue when he came upon a railroad bridge and found his truck would not fit underneath the bridge and he tried to turn around in a residential driveway.
He then struck a pole and pulled down utility wires. The pole fell across Highland Avenue impeding traffic.

The truck driver said his GPS directed him to travel on the residential street.
Bursby said no citations were given, due to the driver avoiding what could have been a much larger and more catastrophic incident.
The Bucyrus Fire Department cut the pole into smaller pieces and removed it from the roadway.
Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Services, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and CenturyLink also responded to the scene.
