BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The trial of former Bucyrus City Councilwoman Carolyn Shireman has been postponed for a second time after Visiting Judge Howard Hall granted a defense request to hire an expert witness. The state did not oppose the motion for a continuance.

Shireman faces multiple legal challenges, having been indicted on charges of telecommunications fraud, a third-degree felony, and theft, a fourth-degree felony. In June, an additional charge of telecommunications fraud, now classified as a second-degree felony, was filed against her, related to her management of the nonprofit organization The Positive Seekers.

The trial was originally scheduled for August 13 but was first rescheduled to October 29. Future dates for a final pretrial and jury trial will be announced soon.

Crawford County Now will continue to monitor and report on this developing story.
