Trial for man accused of rape scheduled to begin today

Thirty-nine-year-old Chad Monroe is scheduled to go on trial today in Crawford County Common Pleas Court.

Thirty-nine-year-old Chad Monroe is scheduled to go on trial today in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. Monroe is charged with two counts of felony 1 rape, felony 1 kidnapping and felony 4 gross sexual imposition.

The alleged offenses occurred in Jefferson Township on January 21. Monroe was arrested later that day in Bucyrus as a result of an arrest warrant. Monroe will be defended by attorneys Richard Cline and Joel Spitzer.

Visiting Judge Dale Crawford will preside over the trial which is expected to last two days.
