MOUNT GILEAD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Larry Fidler, who was scheduled to go on trial next week, has been granted another delay. Fidler, 45, is currently being held in the Morrow County Jail on allegations of Rape, Kidnapping, sexual battery, and gross sexual imposition, all involving minors who are closely related to him.
The prosecution plans to present evidence of seized computers that contain disturbing content involving children as well as other evidence and victim testimony.
Fidler’s first trial took place in December 2022, but the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict, resulting in a deadlock.
Prior to the first trial, the State of Ohio offered Fidler a plea deal of 8 years in prison, which he declined. He has remained in custody awaiting his trial, which was supposed to begin on Monday.
However, special prosecutors for the state requested a continuance due to scheduling conflicts with another older case.
If convicted, Fidler could face life in prison without the possibility of parole until he serves thirty-five years and sexual offender designation.
A new trial date has been set for February 26, 2024, almost two years after he was indicted for these crimes. Crawford
County Now will continue to provide updates on this ongoing story.
