BUCYRUS — In a telephone pretrial in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday, a final trial date was set for former Crawford County corrections officer Jason Tupps.

Tupps, 45, of Galion is accused of holding a motorist at gunpoint in July 2018 and of threatening to shoot her. The incident led to multiple charges against Tupps including improper handling of a firearm, abduction, driving under the influence of alcohol, using weapons while intoxicated, aggravated menacing and assured clear distance ahead.

The final pretrial is scheduled is scheduled to be in-person July 14 at 1:30 p.m. The jury trial is set for Aug. 4 and is scheduled to last four days. Tupps is represented by attorney James Mayer III.

Two other defendants in the case are scheduled for plea change hearings in May.

Megan Futchi

Megan Futchi, 33, of Cleveland is charged with a third-degree felony charge for complicity, punishable with up to 36 months in prison, and a fourth-degree felony charge for theft, punishable with up to 18 months in prison. Futchi is represented by court-appointed attorney Jerry Thompson.

Brittany Miller

Brittany Miller, 28, of Galion is charged with a third-degree felony charge for complicity, punishable with as many as 36 months in prison and a fourth-degree felony charge for theft, punishable with up to 18 months in prison. Miller is represented by attorney Joel Spitzer.

The prosecution cases are being handled by special prosecutor Margaret Tomaro of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. The case is being presided over by visiting Judge Robert Pollex of Wood County.
