The wind that blew through Crawford County overnight Thursday was an ill one according to the local law enforcement agencies. The Sheriff’s Office is urging motorists to use extreme caution when traveling this morning.
A Sheriff’s Office dispatcher on duty reported that trees were down all over but as of the moment no roadways were blocked to the knowledge of the Sheriff’s Office.
“We have lots of them,” The dispatcher said about downed trees and limbs throughout the county. “Nothing is blocking nay roads at the moment. Everything has been cleaned up that was reported.”
The dispatcher warned that could change without warning. She did report that St. Rt. 61 north of Crestline is temporarily closed because of a downed wire and Time Warner was sending a crew to repair it.
The dispatcher also said that there was significant property damage reported in Lykens Township in northern Crawford County including buildings that had been destroyed or damaged by the high winds.
Bucyrus police said there was water across several city streets, mostly due to leaves blocking storm sewers.
“City crews were out and working through the night putting up barricades and clearing storm sewer grates,” the dispatcher on duty there said. The water is already starting to go down.”
She added that one of the streets with water was North Sandusky Avenue in the vicinity of Randy’s Tire. Others were those that normally are the first to have high water. There was a report of a downed tree in the 400 block of Myers Street that took out a power line to one home.
