A former civil servant in Crestline is looking to switch sides of the table and has thrown his name into the ring for a seat on the Crestline Village Council.

Gene Toy, who lost his job as Galion city manager when that community voted to repeal its charter form of government, has filed as a write-in candidate for a council seat in the upcoming November election. Toy once served as the Crestline service/safety director.

Also running as a write-in candidate will be Stacey Jo Wampler. Incumbent Clayton Herold is seeking re-election to the council and Aaron Buckner and Kevin Taylor will also be on the ballot for council seats.

Three current council members – Bob Miller, Dave Crokie and Gerald Bickert – will not be returning.
