Contested races in the Crawford County townships were for the most part very competitive even if they were few in number. Although all 16 townships elected at least one trustee and a fiscal officer Tuesday, there were only five contested races among the candidates for trustee and three for fiscal officer.

Tim Marcum defeated incumbent Carl Radar in Auburn Township, 111-101. In Jackson Township voters preferred Aaron Paynter over Denis Kempf by a 69-47 count.

Jefferson Township voters elected a new trustee there when challenger Kevin Walker defeated the incumbent, Lindall Rachel, 392-208. In the Vernon Township trustee race, Robert Finney defeated Russ Keller, 153-134.

The final race for township trustee was in Whetstone Township where Clay Ehmann defeated Steve Jones, 445-307.

In the contests for fiscal officer, the Whetstone Township incumbent, Cheryl Wagner, withstood a challenge from Mary Lynne Ehmann, 514-229.

Robin Hispher will be the Vernon Township fiscal officer after she defeated Jennifer Price, 197-85.

Kathleen Paynter won the race for fiscal officer in Jackson Township, 81-34, over Denise Jeffrey.

Although all Crawford County school districts elected board of education members, only Colonel Crawford voters had a race to decide. Incumbent Norm Huber was the only name on the ballot for two open seats. The totals of write-in candidates Ric Cochran and Bradley McKibben will be released at a later date.
