BUCYRUS — Bucyrus City Council Public Lands and Buildings Committee gave the green light for the Bucyrus Tourism and Visitors Bureau to set up shop in the lobby of Bucyrus City Hall during the Joint Committee Meetings on Monday evening.

Currently, the bureau has an office in the Crawford Partnership building but will move to the new location soon.

“They can greet people coming to city hall along with doing their business so it’s a win-win for both of us,” Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser said.

Council member Kevin Myers is the council’s representative to the board that governs the bureau. He said he will meet with Reser this week to work out the details of the move for the bureau that brings thousands of people each year to Crawford County for tours, shopping and dining.

Council President Sis Love said the city gives half the bed tax collected from local hotels and motels to the bureau each year to help with its funding.

The Platting Committee voted to send the issue of a parking area between Clady’s Wallpaper and Paint and Wendy’s to the traffic commission. The proposal includes turning the area into an alleyway from South Sandusky Avenue heading west to the alley behind the area. Parking spaces also will be created along with north side.

Traffic control map changes and various appropriations were approved to be voted on by council at its next meeting July 16 at 7 p.m.
