TIRO — Festival goers will be able to get down and dirty during the annual Tiro-Auburn Volunteer Fire Department’s Festival on Friday and Saturday.

The festival will be highlighted by the annual mud volleyball tournament, which will begin at 6 p.m. Friday and continue at noon on Saturday.

Along with the volleyball tournament, both Friday and Saturday will have food available for purchase. The cookout-style food options will include, on Friday, pork roast sandwiches, and on Saturday, beef roast sandwiches. Other food items include different side dishes and steamed sweet corn.

A beer garden also will be present.

On Saturday, the band The Oolong Gurus will be taking the stage as the evening’s entertainment.

Firefighter and festival chairperson Bryan Waines said the money raised from the event stays with the department and helps with costs for new and updated equipment. Waines said the department eventually will need a new truck and other items.

He said the festival also allows the department to not raise the fire levy in Auburn Township.

The festival is located at 102 South Main Street, Tiro and begins both days at noon.

More information may be found on the festival Facebook page.
