The Varsity Grille in Galion was packed for a good cause Saturday night.
With a full bar and no parking spaces left outside the Grille, people gathered for an auction and raffle to help area special needs students.
Galion Secondary School Teacher Julie Fackler said, “We had saw a need within the District for some money to do some development and Missy has taken the reigns and organized all this to help us get some money.”
Missy Strausser said their goal is to raise $10,000 by August. “This event is directed towards benefiting the kids, their families and the school,” Strausser explained.
Fackler said, “About 20% of the population is on some sort of IEP and with this we would like to get our Special Ed Department up to par.”
The Auction had autographed framed pictures, a signed basketball by Ohio State University basketball player Aaron Craft, $50 gift cards to Phil’s Deli, a Twin Lakes Golf Course gift certificate, as well as many other great items.
Auctioneer Craig Miley volunteered time for the auction.
