Different people can look at the same circumstances and draw different conclusions, but there’s no argument that second chances in the local justice system have dwindled. Three men were sentenced to prison terms Wednesday in Crawford County Common Pleas Court and two of them are a result of probation violations.
Joshua White was ordered to serve the balance of a four-year sentence originally imposed in a 2011 conviction for robbery. White’s probationary issues stemmed from not paying restitution as ordered. Judge Sean Leuthold made it clear that he viewed White’s actions, or lack thereof, in a negative light given that White was granted early release from prison by the court.
Michael Rayborn was sentenced to a nine-month term in prison. Rayborn was convicted in 2011 of felony domestic violence and admitted to another similar incident in June.
Curtis Lenhart was sentenced to 12 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to the amended charge of aggravated assault. The original charge was felonious assault. Leuthold also placed in his order that Lenhart was eligible for transitional control meaning the latter part of his sentence could be spent in a halfway house if that was deemed appropriate by prison officials.
Two other people pleaded guilty to felony charges on Wednesday, but neither is going to prison as a result.
Nicholas Daigle pleaded guilty to possession of drugs. Daigle’s recommended sentence from the Prosecutor’s Office is five years of community control along with a $1,250 fine and drug and alcohol treatment. Leuthold ordered a pre-sentence investigation.
Jesse Rittenberry also pleaded guilty to felony possession of drugs. However the court will hold that plea for the time being. Rittenberry was placed in the Intervention in Lieu of Conviction Program.
