The Colonel Crawford Lions Club recently hosted three Students of the Month and their parents. The students and their families were guests at the November dinner meeting. Each student received a commemorative plaque and a check for fifty dollars.
Jacob Kocher is the October C. C. Student of the Month, a senior, and the son of Eric and Shelly Kocher. He serves as Senior Class President, president of the LEO Club, and was a Boys State Delegate. Jacob also earned the Excellence in History award from Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mr. Kocher is a 4-year band letter recipient and was named the Most Outstanding Band Member. Jacob has also served on Junior Fair Board, as a 4-H Camp counselor, and participated in Bucyrus Little Theater productions. Kocher works at Baker’s Pizza in Bucyrus. He is a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs where he is president of the Youth Group.
Jacob has not chosen where he will attend college but plans to major in biochemistry.
Aaron Akers is the November Student of the Month. This senior is the son of Daniel and Melissa Akers. Having earned an Academic Letter each year of high school, Aaron is also a member of National Honor Society. He is a member of Project BLACK, FCCLA and Teen Institute. Jacob has received the Project Black Kindness Award.
Akers is currently serving as president of his 4-H Club. As a member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church, he is vice-president of the Youth Group and a member-at-large in the District Youth Council. He has participated in various community service projects as well. Mr. Akers is a DJ assistant with Sonix Sounds DJ Services.
After attending Ohio State University where he’ll major in Early Childhood Education, Aaron hopes to become a teacher at a local school.
Shayla Stuckman was chosen as the December Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Shane and Sherry Stuckman. Shayla has earned Academic Letters and is a member of the National Honor Society. Her participation in school activities includes LEO Club, FCCLA and Student Council.
Miss Stuckman has earned varsity letters in volleyball and softball. She attends both Gospel Baptist and Bucyrus United Methodist churches. Shayla was voted 2013 Homecoming Queen this fall.
Mowing lawns and babysitting round out Shayla’s busy schedule. Her future plans are undecided.
