Two people were taken to a Columbus hospital following a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening on County Road 35 in Whetstone Township.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has reported that 25-year-old Matthew Lutz pulled out of his private driveway on County Road 35 and struck a westbound vehicle driven by 18-year-old Noah Trease of Sulphur Springs.

Trease and his two passengers, 18-year-old River Shipman-Virden of rural Bucyrus and 20-year-old Zachary McCready of Mansfield, were all transported by Life Support EMS to Bucyrus Community Hospital. Lutz was not injured.

Although McCready was treated and released, Shipman-Virden and Trease were later transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Lutz was cited by the Sheriff’s Office for failure to yield. The accident report did not indicate the kind of vehicles involved in the accident.
