Press release
Three Galion City School District students advanced to the Tri-County Spelling Bee at 6:30 p.m. at the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC) Thursday, Feb. 11.
Regin Kuehlman (6th grade) and Marley Adams (7th grade) finished in the Top 12 of the Crawford County Spelling Bee, while Caleb Strack (8th grade) was crowned the overall champion in the county wide competition at the Middle School January 14.
“Our students worked diligently to prepare for the Crawford County Spelling Bee,” Gifted Coordinator Leanna Giesige said. “Regin, Marley, Caleb and I have been working to help them further develop their spelling skills for the regional competition at MOESC.”
Two Galion students qualified to take the online Scripps spelling bee test, which determines a student’s qualification for the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee at Ohio University in March. Regin Kuehlman and Emma Von Der Hofen took the test and expect the results to be announced the week of Feb. 8.
“I want to commend our students, along with Ms. Giesige, on a great job preparing for the county spelling bee,” Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “We are excited for Regin, Marley and Caleb in the Tri-County Spelling Bee at MOESC and wish them all the best in the competition.”
