A band based out of Galion has gained a large following in recent months. Maybe Later is made up of four young men, two of which graduated from Galion schools.

Band members are Will Starr, 20, on the drums; 24-year-old Kyle Branam, 24, is the lead guitarist and also does background vocals; Blake “Bunz” Thomas, 20, is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist; and Josh Chance, 19, handles the bass.

The band came together in May of 2016 when Starr approached Branam, who is his co-worker, Thomas who was also an acquaintance, and one other member who is no longer with the band. After receiving praise when they played small shows at bars, they decided to record professionally. They released their first EP, Extra Parking, in December of 2016 and have their music on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, and other streaming sites.

When the fourth, unnamed band member decided to leave the band, they sought out their mutual friend, Chance, to fill the spot.

Though they all bring ideas and collaborate, the main lyricist and writer of songs is Branam. The band considers their sound to be pop/alternative rock. At this point, they have strayed from covers due to the fact they are trying to play their own music and build a bigger fan base.

The members of Maybe Later pride themselves on being completely independent. They use their own money from day jobs like Taco Bell, East of Chicago, and Avita Healthcare to pay for equipment, recording, memorabilia, and gas for traveling to gigs. In spite of the fact that they all have jobs and Starr, Chance, and Thomas are enrolled in college, they always find time to practice and work on their music.

“The dream is that we tour someday…even some really small club tour…if we could survive on hanging out and playing music and having fun we would definitely do that,” said Starr. “The goal is to have fun and if it works out that way then it works out.”

The members of the band would like to give a special shout-out to producer Zach Smith for recording their EP, The Superweaks for inspiration, and Thomas’s parents for practice space.

The band plans to get back in the studio in May of this year to record their album Zero Gravity, which they say is more “experimental” and “musically diverse”. You can catch Maybe Later live at their upcoming shows at Relax It’s Just Coffee in Mansfield on March 10 and at TNT Bar in Galion on March 17.
