BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Crawford County Community Concert Association is set to bring the new voice of the American Rock & Roll Songbook, Michael Cavanaugh, to Bucyrus on Thursday, December 14. Cavanaugh, a charismatic performer and musician, gained fame for his piano/lead vocals in the Broadway musical Movin’ Out.

Handpicked by Billy Joel to star in Movin‘ Out, Cavanaugh gave over 1,200 performances in three years, earning multiple accolades and Grammy and Tony award nominations in 2003.

Cavanaugh’s journey began at age seven when he started playing the piano. Inspired by his hero Billy Joel, he formed his first band at age 10 and began playing local functions. His first full-time gig was an extended engagement in Orlando, Florida, at a piano bar called Blazing Pianos.

In 1999, Cavanaugh’s career took a turn when he received an offer to play in Las Vegas at the famous New York, New York Hotel and Casino. It was there that Billy Joel spotted Cavanaugh and joined him on stage one fateful night in February 2001. After just two songs, Joel knew he had found his new Piano Man: Michael Cavanaugh.

Following the close of Movin’ Out in 2005, Cavanaugh began touring worldwide, creating a show that reinterprets the modern pop/rock songbook known as The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John. He quickly became one of the hottest artists in the private events market and continues to perform worldwide.

Cavanaugh will bring his “Merry Rockin’ Christmas Show” with a full band to the Bucyrus Elementary School Auditorium, 245 Woodlawn Ave., Bucyrus, at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 14. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Great seats are still available for this exciting show.
