BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Fairgrounds was bustling with activity Saturday morning as vendors set up shop, 4-H members started the judging process and amusement rides were being brought in for the 161st Crawford County Fair that kicks off Sunday morning at 8 a.m.
According to Senior Fair Board officials, the price of admission this year is $5 per person for everyone older than eight with kids under eight being admitted free of charge.
This is the third year that Carol Eitariear has set up her merchandise at the fair.
“The people are very friendly and the fair is small and clean. We really enjoy coming here,” said Eitariear of Carol’s Jewelry and Gifts.
The 4-H Lunch Box already opened on Saturday morning with the Crawford Little Critters 4-H Club serving up the variety of foods that are offered.
“We are opening the fair this year and closing it down next Saturday night,” said Laura Koons. “Each 4-H Club works in the stand two times during the fair.”
Koons’ son, Korey, said he is excited to show his 4-H projects during the fair.
“I have four rabbits this year,” said 10-year-old Korey.
Sydney Furr, Korey’s fellow Little Critters 4-H member, said she also has rabbits at the fair.
“I also took a Department One project this year and it was a lot of fun. I did First Aid in Action and definitely want to do a Department One project next year,” said Furr.
Ethan Hammond of the Little Critters said he is looking forward to presenting his 4-H projects for the week.
Joette Marks is part of the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club and will be showing sheep at the fair.
“I like the rides at the fair,” said Marks, as she ordered food from the 4-H booth with her mom, Jeanette.
Families can save money while the children have fun on Tuesday and Thursday this week during Family Appreciation Days. Armbands for the rides will be sold at $10 each during two different sessions.
Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., admission into the fair is free of charge but no stamps for re-admittance will be issued during those hours.
