SYCAMORE—Will the corporate recruiter be able to land the medical salesman on ABC’s The Bachelor?
It’s safe to say the little town of Sycamore, just 18 miles northwest of Bucyrus in Wyandot County, is rooting for homegrown contestant Shanea Ankney, 29.
Ankney now works as a recruiter in Dublin but is a self-described hometown girl who graduated from Mohawk High School.
While she describes herself as a patient, loving, and kind, reality tv commentators like Reality Steve (a social media writer) say that Ankney is dubbed this seasons‘ villain. He came to Ankney’s defense in his latest recap when clips in the show suggested she called bachelor Clayton Echard a vulgar name. According to Reality Steve, that was a result of clever editing, and it was actually contestant Claire.
Contestants are not paid to appear, so Ankney will spend between $1800 and $8000 to appear on the reality show. She also had to leave her recruiting position for between six and nine weeks to compete. If she lands the Bachelor, she will get a beautiful engagement ring courtesy of Jeweler Neil Lane.
The Bachelor is not a scripted show, but the very gifted and experienced producers have designed scenarios to pull out as much emotion as possible from the women.
Spoilers indicate that Ankney isolates herself from the rest of the house but does get to a one-on-one date with Clayton.
In her bio, Ankney says she is not interested in a man who does magic. She also says she’s independent. Viewers will have to tune in to see if she can work a little magic of her own and land her man!
