The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a morning field day Sept. 16 for farmers and landowners interested in learning more about how cover crops can improve soil health and increase crop yields.
Hans Kok, Ag Conservation Consultant, will be leading the discussion on cover crops and soil health. Don’t miss this opportunity as we will be going “below ground” to learn about the multiple benefits of cover crops.
Also on hand will be Kevin King, a USDA research scientist, to discuss local edge of field study results related to nutrient management. Other topics will include cover crop selection and planting methods, local cost share options, and an update on the new fertilizer regulations.
The tour will be held at 4565 Ziegler Road, just outside of Sulphur Springs, Ohio. The field day begins at 9 a.m. and will conclude at noon with lunch provided by Sycamore Run Farms, owned by Greg and Rose Hartschuh.
The field day is free. Registration is required for meal purposes; interested individuals should contact the Crawford SWCD at 419-562-8280 ext. 3 or 419-562-2203 ext. 3 before September 14 to register or more information.
