The Crawford Soil & Water Conservation District is hosting a bus tour to area farms that have implemented cover crops into their farming operations. The tour is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Busses will leave the Crawford SWCD office at 9 am and return around 12:30 pm.

The purpose of the tour is to highlight farms that have implemented different types of cover crops, using various planting methods. Participants will have the opportunity to view the cover crops and ask particular questions of the farmers who planted them. Cover crops offer a variety of benefits to farmers to improve soil health and reduce nutrient and sediment runoff from cropland.

Registration is required for seating purposes. Interested individuals should contact the Crawford SWCD at 419-562-8280 or by e-mail at mike.hall@oh.nacdnet.net before Dec. 9 to register or more information.
