Crestline police have confirmed the arrest of a suspect in the Jan. 18 robbery of the Crestline Shell gas station on W. Main Street. The Crestline Advocate reported that police chief Joe Butler confirmed the arrest on Monday.

The robbery at the Shell gas station was reported just before 10 p.m. on Jan. 18. The suspect had left the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. It was unknown at the time if he had shown a weapon of any kind or had threatened anyone inside the store.

Police arrested Timothy J. Heefer II, who had been charged with a probation violation in relation to another crime though additional charges may be pending in connection with the Shell station robbery. The 32-year-old Crestline man is currently being held in the county jail on a $250,000 bond after appearing in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Jan. 26 for probation violations.

Heefer had been found guilty of second-degree felony burglary in 2013 and had been sentenced to four years in prison. In addition to being arrested as a suspect in the Shell robbery, Heefner allegedly took property from a Duke and Duchess gas station in Ontario on Jan. 22.
