BUCYRUS — Superintendent Jim Peterson of the River Valley School District in Marion County will be the guest speaker for the Men’s Community Breakfast.

Mr. Peterson was awarded the Advanced State Principal of the Year in 2008.

The breakfast will take place at the Bucyrus Community Hospital Cafeteria on Wednesday, April 10 at 7 a.m. Ladies are more than welcome to attend.

As Superintendent, I want to share a few things about myself. My family and I have lived in the district for close to 25 years. My three sons are proud graduates of River Valley. I am very excited to get involved and make a commitment to this fine district.

My chief goal as an educator is to provide a caring, engaging, quality learning environment for all students. Preparing students for life-long learning and success is always at the heart of my work.

I believe that building a strong relationship with all members of the River Valley community is one of the most important functions of the superintendent. During my 39-year career, I have emphasized the meaning of teamwork, cooperation, and communication. The foundation of this relationship is trust. I will be visible, accessible, and flexible as I work with students, parents, staff, administration and community. You will find me both available and approachable, as we work together to create a solid team in River Valley. Through open, honest communication, support, and encouragement, together we will strengthen every aspect of our educational system. I greatly value input from all stakeholders. I will be seeking your thoughts, opinions, and ideas. All decisions will be made based on what is best for students. I appreciate the opportunity to lead this district. I look forward to working with the staff and community to advance and celebrate the school district’s future accomplishments.

Sincerely,
Mr. James P. Peterson, Superintendent
