CRESTLINE — A finalist for the superintendent position at Crestline Exempted Village Schools recent removed his name from consideration for the job.

According to the Ohio School Boards Association, which is leading the hiring process for the district, James Gunner has removed his name from consideration.

The announcement came just before a public forum and final interview with the Crestline EVS Board of Education on April 24 at 5 p.m.

OSBA Senior Board and Management Services Consultant Steve Horton said Gunner informed him that Gunner had other job offers closer to his residence and was withdrawing his candidacy for Crestline.

That leaves two candidates for the position:

  • Matthew Henderson – Director of curriculum at Bucyrus City Schools.
  • Jonathon Muro – Madison Middle School principal at Madison Local Schools.

The two finalists will meet with community members, school staff and the school board at a public forum today, April 24, from 5-7 p.m.

One candidate will meet with the board from 5-6 p.m. while the other meets with the public and they then will switch.

The event is at the Crestline school building.
