The key to Sunday’s weather was much like the key to selling real estate – location, location, location.

While Crawford County and much of North Central Ohio was under a winter storm warning, the part of the storm system that dumped snow all over the Midwest tracked north of here Sunday. With forecasts of as much as 10 inches or more of snow accompanied by winds that would have hit the 20 to 30 miles per hour range, many prepared for the worst. But with Crawford County at the northern edge of a swath that kept temperatures near or above freezing most the day, more than half an inch of rain helped minimize the impact of the couple of inches of snow that did fall.

Less than an inch of new snow this morning is expected and will be accompanied by dropping temperatures and wind that could still cause slippery road conditions. Crawford County was placed under a Level 1 snow advisory at 5:58 a.m. Rural roads were deemed hazardous with blowing and drifting snow and are also icy.

Most area schools, including all those in Crawford County, were on a two-hour delay this morning initially. All eventually closed for the day as road conditions steadily worsened.

The good news is it is Ground Hog Day and hopefully the prognosticating rodent will be unable to see his shadow meaning spring is just around the corner.
