GALION— The abrupt resignation of Galion City Councilwoman Melissa Frank-Elwell was briefly addressed at the Galion City Council Meeting on Tuesday evening.

Although public records requests made to the city by Crawford County Now were unanswered, a copy of the brief email was obtained. It reads:

“Please accept my resignation from City Council for the city of Galion, Ward 2.

I can no longer support the city of Galion due to the trauma I’ve been through with the Galion Police Department.  I do not  feel safe here.”

Melissa Frank-Elwell

Crawford County Now reached out to newly appointed Police Chief Ryan Strange for comment but received no response.

Efforts to reach Elwell have been unsuccessful.

Crawford County Now will continue to cover this developing news story.
