Man and his best friend turned out Saturday to make another successful year for the Paws Walk event for the Crawford County Humane Society. Runners and walkers showed up with their dogs to compete in a 5K and the Paws Walk event. The afternoon also featured a rabies and microchip clinic.

Crawford County Humane Society Board President Tricia Breighner was happy with the turnout for the event.

“This is our annual Paws Walk event and it’s a fundraiser for the shelter. We had a 5K this morning, about 30 runners. Now we are having our main event, people bring donations they have gotten from their friends and family, turn their donations in and walk with their best friend.”

Last year’s event only had five runners and this year there were 30. Dr. John Shuler, of the Horizon Animal Hospital, was on hand for the rabies shot and microchip clinic. Some people kept coming back with more dogs while others shared their day with their one and only.

Adoptions were made and the shelter will have funds to continue their acts of humanity toward our county’s animal population.
