BUCYRUS — A “Town and Gown” event was hosted at the Crawford Success Center to focus on how the college and the community can come up with solutions to local problems.
“Building Pathways through Partnerships” brought together local leaders from both the Crawford County community and North Central State College. The discussion focused on the next steps in building a robust local economy.
Keynote speaker Lisa Workman, president of The Community for Crawford County Foundation, shed light on the emerging trends and requests for support that are coming to the foundation, along with thoughts on how to address the most vital needs.
One of the questions included what it would look like for Crawford County to see the Crawford Success Center as their community center. Many ideas came in from community leaders including game nights, coding weekends for kids, internship incubator, etc.
Amanda Sheets, manager of the Crawford Success Center, said, “Moving forward from our first “Town and Gown” event, we can implement ideas that came about through today’s discussion to meet the needs of our Crawford County Community as well as surrounding communities.”
Sheets will be reaching out to participants sharing all the results and will soon be holding additional events to bring the campus and the community together.
