BUCYRUS – The Bucyrus City Council met for their regular session on Tuesday night. Bucyrus resident Martha Spring of 120 Kincora Drive, addressed the council about the undecided issue about the streetlights. She asked for the waiving of the streetlights in the new rezoning. Spring asked the mayor why he has not got back with her. Mayor Jeff Reser explained that there is a dispute on who pays for them. “from what our ordinance says, from what I was told, you guys (the residents of Kincora Dr.) are responsible for those things….we just don’t have a final answer on that yet.” The council said they will do the research on what needs to be done.

Ordinance 24-2020 that would have added two more Stop signs on South Lane Street at Rensselaer Street on the South East and Northwest corners, and would have added No Parking on the north side of River Street from Tiffin Street to Perry Street. Failed when it only got 3 out of 7 votes. Mayor Reser asked the council why it failed. Councilman Bruce Truka explained, “ I investigated, talked to the different members of the police department in that area and I voted no because of that.” When asked by the mayor, Councilmember James Mee about the no parking, he explained that they put a poll up on Facebook for Lane Street and Rensselaer and two-thirds wanted it put back the way it was. The replied with “that’s not scientific at all. Mee replied with “that’s what the residents want.” “That’s what the Facebook people want.” replied the Mayor.

A regular Joint Regular Committee meeting will be held Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
