BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In a stunning move amid a low voter turnout, recently appointed councilwoman Clarissa Slater lost her bid to be on the November ballot.
The unofficial results of the 2025 Primary Election reveal a voter turnout of 13.85% with significant participation in Republican categories.
A total of 28,315 registered voters were eligible, with 3,921 ballots cast.
The breakdown of the votes show:

– Republican Voter Turnout: 53.41% (917 ballots)
– Nonpartisan Voter Turnout: 11.29% (3,004 ballots)

Republican Candidate Results in Bucyrus
In the City of Bucyrus, all Republican candidates running for council positions received unanimous support:
– President of Council:
– Kevin S. Myers: 670 votes Myers had a total of 242 undervotes (box unchecked on the ballot)
– Treasurer:
– Adrienne Kemery: 701 votes (100%)
– Director of Law:
– Brandon Micheal Gobrecht: 724 votes (100%)
The open seat for Council At-Large saw competitive voting among four candidates, with the following results:
– James D. Mee: 566 votes (28.12%)
– Clarissa Slater: 425 votes (21.11%)
– Robert E. Taylor: 499 votes (24.79%)
– Ray A. Thitoff: 523 votes (25.98%)
Total votes cast for this position were 2,013, with 720 undervotes. (unchecked box on the ballot).
For various ward council positions in Bucyrus, results were as follows:
– 1st Ward: Christopher A. Mauritz received 118 votes (100%).
– 2nd Ward: Allison LeClair received 174 votes (100%).
