The Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is announcing plans to conduct an OVI sobriety checkpoint in the area this week.

The purpose of the checkpoint operated by troopers is to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The specific county where that checkpoint will be located will be announced the day prior to its operation. The exact location will be announced the morning of the checkpoint.

Operational support for the sobriety checkpoint will be provided by local law enforcement agencies.

The State Highway Patrol encourages those who plan to consume alcohol to designate a sober driver or make other arrangements for safe transportation prior to drinking.
