A possible expansion to the Crawford County Landfill on Lincoln Highway east of Bucyrus will be the subject of an Ohio EPA information session and public hearing.
The landfill has a current approval for 46.8 acres and a draft permit has been submitted that would allow an expansion of 35 acres horizontally and five feet vertically. At its current rate the landfill would fill and close in just over 12 years. The proposed expansion would add an additional 29 years of operation at the current rate of fill.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Aug. 23, in Council Chambers at Bucyrus City Hall.
Oral and written comments will be accepted at the hearing. Written comments also will be accepted through Aug. 30, 2016. Written comments may be emailed to: epa.dmwmcomments @epa.ohio.gov, or mailed to Ohio EPA DMWM, P.O. Box 1049, Columbus, Ohio 43216, Attn: Megan Ujvari.
