The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Bucyrus on Monday, Oct. 10, to speak to area attorneys about challenges and opportunities currently facing the legal profession and to recognize six area lawyers.
Ronald S. Kopp, 2016-2017 OSBA president, will address the OSBA District 5 annual luncheon meeting at the Trillium Event Center (1630 East Southern Avenue, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820). OSBA District 5 includes 419 members who practice in Crawford, Delaware, Marion, Morrow, Seneca, and Wyandot counties.
Richard L. Cory of Bucyrus will be recognized for his 65 years of service to the profession. John W. Berger of Crestline, Jasper N. Burt of Marion, Dominic J. Chieffo of Powell, and Michael A. Kennedy of Bucyrus will be recognized for their 50 years of service to the profession. Mark W. Fowler of Delaware will receive the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.
Victor H. Perez, District 5 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will include the election of one member to the Ohio State Bar Association Board of Governors and one member to the Ohio State Bar Association Council of Delegates. Matthew E. Crall, president of the Crawford County Bar Association, will deliver welcoming remarks. OSBA members are welcome to attend the business meeting at no charge.
An hour-long continuing legal education (CLE) seminar titled “The Future of the Profession – Challenges and Opportunities” will be offered as part of the luncheon program. After the noon luncheon meeting and recognition, an optional 2.5-hour continuing legal education (CLE) professional conduct seminar will be offered from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Young lawyers (age 36 or younger or in practice five years or less) who register before Oct. 3 can attend the luncheon, including the one-hour luncheon seminar and the post-luncheon seminar, at no charge.
