BUCYRUS―A decision has been made on the stage that will be placed in the Schines Art Park.
Mayor Jeff Reser announced during the regular Bucyrus City Council meeting Tuesday evening that a stage is being gifted to the city by North Central State College.
Reser said the city received a grant to construct a stage but the various proposals and bids were over the $120,000 available for the stage.
“Recently, North Central State College Foundation stepped up to offer a stage to the city that is relatively new but no longer in use by the college,” said Reser.
He said that Christine Copper of the foundation said that the foundation has a real interest in helping the city of Bucyrus with the project, thereby being a good community partner.
Copper said that many top name entertainers have graced the stage, including the Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, Phil Vassar, Rick Springfield, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Kentucky Headhunters, Montgomery Gentry and many more.
Reser said the gift is deeply appreciated by the city’s administration.
“At this point, work will begin immediately to remove the stage from its current location and move it to the site at Schines Park. Work will be done to engineer the placement of the stage, as well as the lighting and other aspects to complete the installation,” Reser said.
He said the 20 by 40-foot stage will fit perfectly in the space designated for a stage at the Art Park.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the North Central College and Foundation for this gift to the city,” Reser said.
