Two days after a Wynford Royal committed to a college baseball scholarship, Wynford baseball coach Joe Staab’s departure from the district was approved as well.

Staab, who recently took the Royals to a 19-6 season highlighted by winning the N-10 Conference as well as a post season push to the Division IV District Finals, had his resignation as baseball coach approved by the Wynford Board of Education Thursday night. Staab’s resignation is effective immediately.

Staab also had his resignation as junior high math teacher approved. He will stay on at that position until June 30, 2016.

Staab wasn’t the only resignation approved Thursday evening. Elementary art teacher Heidi Heacock, assistant varsity basketball coach Jordan Oliver, and assistant junior high football coach George Barbuto also resigned their positions.

Wynford rolled out their new website at http://www.wynfordroyals.org during the board meeting. Technology Director Missi Grove presented the website, going over its numerous features.

“We wanted to make the website cleaner and mobile friendly,” Grove explained to the board. “It will have a more simple menu system, and each teacher will have their own page that they will update on the site.”

Grove noted that while the site is up and running it still only about 70-75% complete.

Junior and high school principals Jeff Holbrook and Chris Solis discussed updates to the student handbook which were approved during the meeting.

Holbrook noted that they added a cheating policy, and returned volunteer hours to the blue, grey, white program which includes three hours of community service. Holbrook added that those caught cheating will be disqualified from the program.

Solis outlined the school’s phone policy noting that acceptable and unacceptable times for phone use in class are determinate upon the teacher, however, at 7:30 phones are to be off in the hallways, and the only other time they are permitted for non-class functions is during the lunch period.

Solis updated the board on the dress code policy, which now includes a provision that articles of clothing are to have no rips in them.

Solis also added that the junior high will have tech classes with five tech classes in both the seventh and eighth grades.

In Superintendent Fred Fox’s report to the board, Fox noted that he made a trip to Carey to purchase band stands and lunch tables. He noted that he will be returning for the school’s auction.

Work around the school including the seal and striping of the elementary parking lot as well as increasing of handicap spaces on the school grounds were highlighted.

Fox explained that he plans to have a lunch for the summer workers at the school with the board, which would conclude with a tour of the campus.

In Treasurer Leesa Smith’s report to the board, Smith noted that things were relatively quiet as she finished up the fiscal year. Smith added that due to finishing up the fiscal year, there most likely won’t be an official report for the July meeting.
