As the sun was setting, the rising stars of Crawford County were shining bright Tuesday for the 2016 Spring All-County All-Stars Athletes Banquet.

The event was hosted by the presenting sponsor Spreng Capital Management along with WQEL, WBCO, and Crawford County Now at the Trillium Event Center. While providing opening comments to the county all-stars, Jim Spreng gave advice to the award recipients.

“Remember those people that did the dirty work and got you to where you are as you climb up the ladder,” Spreng said. “Don’t let this award be the crowning point of your life. This is just the beginning.”

Claiming an all-star nod in track and field, Bucyrus High School student Gabby Seibert explained what the all-star award meant for her.

“It is kind of nice because I have never gotten it before, but it kind of makes me feel special like a person in the county who got recognized,” Seibert explained.

Starting his career in track, Galion High School tennis player Lucas Conner was proud of the honor of being named all-star in tennis.

“Tonight is important for me just because I had played tennis for two years,” Conner said. “My freshman year I did track as well, but decided I liked tennis a lot more, and got more into it, and I got a lot better over the years, and just this year I really stepped up and done the best I could.”

After his Wynford Royals team won the N-10 championship, Joe Staab explained that all of the credit to being named the Crawford County Baseball All-Star Coach goes to his players.

“It just shows that we had a great team this year and were able to accomplish a lot of things over the course of this season, and I mean in order for an honor like this to happen you got to have a great team to put on the field, so all of the credit goes to the players,” Staab said.

Sweatshirts for the athletes were provided by Central Monogramming. Plaques presented to the recipients were provided by Dean’s Trophy House, catering was provided by the Bucyrus Community Hospital.
