GALION — Tuesday evening’s Galion city council meeting wrapped up business within a half hour, but not without accomplishing some needed work.
The first ordinance on the agenda was to approve amendments to the city’s electric code. Among the many proposed changes is a requirement for the city to hire a certified electrician to perform inspections of electrical service.
Third ward councilman Mike Richart asked if it was necessary for the city to hire a certified electrician, citing his concerns about budget constraints. After some discussion, council opted to send the measure back to committee.
In other business, council approved on its final reading a measure to allow the Ohio Department of Transportation to do a speed zone study on the area of State Route 61, from the intersection of State Route 309 north to U.S. 30. Consideration is being made to possibly slow traffic from 50 to 45mph due to residences and a church in that area.
