BUCYRUS — The torch run, which precedes the Ohio Special Olympics, once again passed its way through Bucyrus.
The run began in Toledo, and on Thursday, made its way from the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and down Ohio 4 to Bucyrus City Hall.
The torch was escorted by Chief David Koepke and officers Andy Plummer and Daniel Rufner of the Bucyrus Police Department and Trish Ratliff representing the City of Bucyrus.

Troopers with the Bucyrus Patrol Post typically participate but did not run this year due to troopers being sent to assist in Mansfield after a crash involving a trooper and a reported drunk driver put the trooper in critical condition.
The torch will travel through Marion and to Columbus for the Special Olympics.
A reported 25,000 athletes participate in the Special Olympics statewide. The state summer games are June 28-30.
Koepke said those who wish to donate to the cause may do so at the Ohio Special Olympics website.
